Dr. Nelson Sanchez is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with over 25 years of experience dedicated to caring for patients of all ages. He graduated from the Superior Institute of Medicine in Havana, Cuba, and completed additional training in Puerto Rico, building a strong foundation in primary care, prevention, and long-term wellness.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sanchez has served as Medical Director in well-known healthcare organizations in Miami. Today, he leads Sanchez Healthcare Medical Center, where he combines his extensive background in family medicine with advanced expertise in sleep medicine, respiratory therapies, and clinical nutrition.

His practice focuses on providing compassionate, personalized care while helping patients manage common conditions such as hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and sleep-related issues. He is deeply committed to patient education as a tool to empower healthier lifestyles and improve community well-being.

Yohanka Pereira, ARNP – Nurse Practitioner & Administrative Director

Yohanka Pereira is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in nursing and patient care. After moving to the United States, she specialized in neonatal medicine, working as a Neonatal Registered Nurse from 2004 to 2012 and as a Neonatal ARNP since 2012, caring for premature and critically ill infants with advanced expertise.

Her professional journey also includes valuable experience at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where she performed pulmonary function testing (PFT), contributed to research on scleroderma and obstructive lung diseases, and carried out specialized evaluations for workers’ compensation cases.

Earlier in her career in Havana, Cuba, Yohanka served as a nursing supervisor in neurological intensive care, developing strong skills in critical care leadership before relocating to the U.S.

At Sanchez Healthcare Medical Center, she combines her clinical expertise with her role as Administrative Director, ensuring that patients receive both high-quality medical care and the support of a well-coordinated healthcare environment.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Yohanka is committed to guiding families at every stage of life —from newborn care to adult and senior health— making her a vital part of the center’s mission of comprehensive community wellness.

Elizabeth M. Santana brings over 30 years of experience in healthcare administration and operations management. She holds both a Master of Health Services Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida International University, combining academic excellence with extensive hands-on expertise.

Before joining Sanchez Healthcare Medical Center as Office Manager in 2024, Elizabeth served in leadership roles at CareMax Pembroke Pines and Miami Lakes Medical Center, where she oversaw day-to-day operations, strategic planning, budgeting, billing, compliance, and staff coordination. Her career reflects a proven ability to manage complex healthcare environments while ensuring that patients receive seamless, high-quality service.

At Sanchez Healthcare, Elizabeth is responsible for supervising operations, tracking claims and insurance payments, and ensuring accurate billing and collections. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she plays a key role in supporting patients and staff alike, creating an organized and welcoming environment for the community the center serves.
